How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening is basically the process of breaking apart chemical bonds in these organic and inorganic stains- causing compounds through the application of a peroxide-based Whitening Gel to the teeth. It happens when our whitening gel is photo-excited by our advanced blue light Accelerator system creating a powerful action which removes years of stains from your teeth.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment is 1-hour + consultation & setup, allow 1hr 15 mins; In that time discolouration that has built up over years will disappear. It takes no longer than the time it would be for you to have a haircut or facial
Is it safe?
Yes, scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in Teeth Whitening Gel are effective and safe for cosmetic tooth whitening. The dental community has used these ingredients in performing teeth whitening for many years.
My chosen Teeth Whitening Gel does not change or damage the structure of the teeth. In fact, in a recent clinical study it was proven to be Safer than Orange Juice.
Most clients experience no pain or sensitivity during or after the treatment.
Can anyone have Teeth Whitening?
The Teeth Whitening treatment provides dramatic results for anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or by substances such as coffee or tea. It also whitens teeth stained by tetracycline, speckled by fluoride, or hereditary discoloration. Pregnant or Breastfeeding women or clients under 16 years of age should not receive a Teeth Whitening procedure.
How long will it last?
The results are different from person to person. For a few fortunate people with atypical diets the results can last up to 1-2 years. For most teeth it last 6 to 12 months. If you drink a lot of coffee, tea, cola, red wine or smoke cigarettes, the results will obviously not last as long and you may like to repeat the process more often.
How white will me teeth get?
Because all teeth whiten differently it is not possible to guarantee how white an individuals teeth might become. However, for most, after whitening with the system I use, teeth shades can brighten between 2 to 14 shades, with an average improvement of 4-8 shades on the Teeth Whitening Shade Guide.
Pregnant or Breastfeeding
All Teeth Whitening is ‘Contraindicated’ for Pregnant & breastfeeding persons; That means, these factors serve as a reason to withhold a certain treatment during this time. Until scientific research says yes or no, certain products are ‘Contraindicated’ as an unproven safety risk
Scale or Polish
Scaling & polishing can produce some gum recession and/or detachment of gingival (gum) attachment fibres, which can expose the dentin at a tooth’s base. Also normal healthy teeth can become transiently more sensitive than usual because it usually removes the shielding pellicle layer coating from the tooth enamel. Therefore, if you are having Dentist Scale & Polish your teeth, we ask that you wait 14-days for your gums to come back and the pellicle layer to regrow before your whitening procedure.
Should I brush my teeth before I come in?
Brushing right before the whitening procedure is NOT recommended as it can cause the pores in the teeth enamel to become blocked with ‘fillers’ resulting in inferior results. Last brush should be at least 2 hours be
